Case Study: Radiant Ceiling Panels and Lummi Housing Authority
The Lummi Nation is the third largest tribe in Washington State with over 5,000 members on the Lummi Reservation. They place significance on tribal economic development and are a nationally recognized leader in tribal self-governance and education. In 2013 the Lummi Housing Authority commissioned the construction of sixteen new low-cost homes for members of the tribe. The 3, 4, and 5 bedroom homes were required to be affordable and energy-efficient with a low-cost heating system requiring minimal maintenance. 182 of Ducoterra’s ceiling-mounted SolaRay panels were installed to heat 16 new homes, supplying 186kW of electric heating capacity. The low-cost panels will save the Lummi Tribe over $6,300 each year and roughly $174,000 over the lifetime of the housing project.
